NHL and USA Hockey are proud to team up with First Lady Michelle Obama, the Let’s Move! initiative and the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition to help the nation’s youth lead healthier, more active lives through the sport of hockey. Together, we will break down barriers and introduce the game of hockey to new children and improve the way kids play, love and excel at hockey—all while promoting 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Hockey is a unique blend of fun and exercise that can’t be beat!
That's why we're encouraging youth and adults to answer the Million PALA Challenge (MPC). The MPC is offered by the President’s Challenge, a program of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition. In partnership with the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” initiative, the MPC is working to get 1 million Americans to earn the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award during 2011. The goal is to be active 5 days a week for 6 weeks. Adults (18 years or older) complete at least 30 minutes per day, while youth (6 to 17 years) should engage in at least 60 minutes per day.
